Prep Baseball Report will host the Top Prospect - Chicago showcase, an invite-only event, on Tuesday, June 18th at Dupage Medical Group Field (formerly known as Route 66 Stadium) in Joliet, Illinois. Annually one of our biggest summer events, PBR will have a chance to see some of Illinois and Wisconsin’s best talent, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. The Top Prospect event is heavily attended by a number of scouts ranging from NCAA Division 3 all the way up to Major League Baseball teams -- giving all the athletes in attendance a wide variety of exposure.

Last year’s event saw 60 of the participants commit to play collegiate baseball. 1B Tyler Brandenburg (2019; Purdue) wowed with an event-high 104 exit velocity off the tee, and OF Khyle Radcliffe (2019; St. Louis) put his overall athleticism on display -- running a 6.93 60-yard-dash while also impressing with his 93 MPH throws from the outfield. On the pitching side of things, RHP Robert Jackman Jr. (2019; Olivet Nazarene) topped out at 90 MPH, an event best, and consistently sat in the mid-to-upper 80’s. RHP Joe Glassey (2019; Illinois) also had himself a day, topping out at 89 and consistently sitting 87-88 off the mound.

This year’s event promises to put just as much talent on display, with many noteworthy names currently set to attend. Of the Illinois crop, the event has plenty of pitching to look out for. RHP Jack Feely (2020; uncommitted), RHP Scott Harper (2020; uncommitted), and RHP Mitchel Hemmen (2020; uncommitted) have all shown fastballs in the mid-to-upper 80’s and have arm strength and frames that suggest they could get even higher this summer. Another intriguing arm is RHP Will Tenuta (2020; uncommitted), who has risen through the rankings over the past year and could very well surprise with a breakout performance at the invite-only event. Wisconsin offers a lot of upside offensively, especially when it comes to OF Mitchell Alba (2020; uncommitted) and C Thomas Otto (2020; uncommitted), who are both ranked within the states top-30 players.
