Trackman Sessions: Hitting Standouts

KILGORE, T.X.- On Wednesday, our staff held a Trackman Session to offer some of the states top prospects a chance to participate in a some what of a live setting. Today we take a look at some of the highly regarded hitting prospects in attendance, and some of the data collected during their session.

SS / 2B / HALLSVILLE, TX / 2020
Max Exit Velo: 90.4 mph Launch Angle: 10.9 degrees
Sam Houston State signee, put together solid scrappy at bats all day long. He hit balls to all fields and showed the ability to be a pest in the box and find barrels. Seems to understand his game really well and will only add strength which should allow him to run into a few more extra base hits down the road.

1B / OF / NACOGDOCHES, TX / 2021
Max Exit Velo: 88.3 mph Launch Angle 3.5 degrees
6-foot-4, 180-pounds, Koonce has a frame that is only going to add strength and allow him to hit for more power. He showed natural rhythm in the box and an ability to find the barrel consistently. During his BP rounds stayed in the middle of the field. Koonce will be a 2021 to follow along with this summer.

C / RHP / NEW DIANA, TX / 2023
Max Exit Velo: 91.3 Launch Angle: 1.8 degrees
Elliot once again shows a natural ability to catch the ball. He is able to show the ability to work under the ball and suck the low pitch up with ease. Elliot shows he can handle all pitches and velocity, but will need to continue to show it each and every pitch. At the plate, shows his ability to hit the ball to right center field and is still learning out how to get the head out. His defense is still ahead of his offense but Foreman has as high of an upside as any in the class.

OF / 3B / SPRING HILL , TX / 2022
Max Exit Velo: 93.2 Launch Angle: 1.5 degrees
Lipsey was able to show his high upside in the box on the day. He showed a natural rhythm with bat speed and intent on driving the ball. Was uphill slightly on the day but was able to show his tools and impress the PBR staff. As he continues to add strength and understands his swing even more, he could take off offensively.

3B / RHP / PARKWAY, LA / 2023
Max Exit Velo: 95.2 Launch Angle: 13.4 degrees
LSU recruit, Lape produced loud contact with each swing in BP. Showed a consistent ability to find the barrel and drive the ball in the middle of the field. Lape was balanced throughout the swing and never seemed out of control in the box.

OF / RHP / LONGVIEW , TX / 2022
Max Exit Velo: 89.9 mph Launch Angle: 16.5 degrees
University of Houston recruit, Flores has a lean athletic frame that projects well down the road. In the box was able to show a simple setup with a simple swing that produced easy line drives. Showed the ability to drive the ball to right center field in live AB's.

Max Exit Velo: 95.2 Launch Angle 4.6 degrees
Houston stood out behind the dish on the day. Standing at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds with a solid lower half, showed loose hips and an ability to handle all types of arms behind the dish. Houston's defense is ahead of his offense but he is one to follow heading into the summer.

Max Exit Velo: 95.5 mph Launch Angle 12.5 degrees
Harris got in the box ready to do damage each at bat. He showed a simple compact flat stroke that produced multiple live AB line drives. During his BP rounds, showed the ability to stay in the middle of the field and consistently hit hard line drives.

3B / RHP / HARMONY, TX / 2020
Max Exit Velo: 96.3 mph Launch Angle 12.3 degrees
Panola recruit, showed the ability to hit balls hard throughout BP as well as in live AB's. Shows a natural rhythm in the box and gets good extension through the baseball. Will get long at times but still showed the ability to be consistent and stay in the middle of the field.
