Under The Radar, High Ceiling: RHP Jasper Nelson
December 4, 2019
Jasper Nelson, '20, is a high ceiling arm that was up to 89 mph at the recent Uncommitted Upperclass Showcase, a significant improvement from the 85 mph he threw at the Southern Nevada Scout Day held earlier this year in June. His loose, quick arm action paired a fastball that jumped out his hand, Nelson projects to add more velocity as he continues to develop strength to fill out his 6-foot-2 frame. This hidden gem may have been overlooked on a loaded Palo Verde roster including five Division 1 signees including: Jaden Agassi (USC), Josiah Cromwick (Oregon), Paulshawn Pasqualotto (Cal), Paul Myro (Oregon State) and Noah Carabajal (Long Beach) as well as '22 Mason Neville (Arizona Commit). The positive progression in his velocity and feel for his secondary pitches has the PBR staff following him closely as he heads into his senior year.

2020 Jasper Nelson (Palo Verde HS, NV), an athletic 6-2/195 RHP, was a clear standout at @CSN_Baseball. Clean, compact, loose arm action, up to 89 with seemingly more in tank. (Poor video work below; real video to be posted soon)@prepbaseball https://t.co/dzwWStdllG pic.twitter.com/w1I9AqRUbh
Nelson proved to be one of the best remaining arms in the 2020 class in Nevada at his impressive performance at the Uncommitted Upperclass Showcase, where he was tweeted out by PBR President Sean Duncan. He will be an exciting following this year as he seemed to have more in the tank and looks to continue his trend of positive progression throughout his senior campaign. Under the radar, high ceiling prospect to keep on your radar.
