Underclass Spotlight: Class of 2014 C/OF Cory Canterbury from O'Fallon Christian HS

Another impressive Class of 2014 player at the Preseason Prospect ID Showcas, Cory Canterbury (right) demonstrated advanced actions both in the outfield and behind the plate.

As a catcher, the 5-foot-10, 155-pounder showed good width in his blocking form and received the ball well.  He recorded 2.05-2.16 pop times and delivered strong and accurate 70-73 mph throws to second base.  In the outfield, Canterbury was fundamentally sound and took advanced routes to the baseball while uncorking 72-75 mph throws.

At the plate, the versatile right-handed hitter had good barrel whip (thanks to strong, quick hands) that generated backspin carry to all fields.

Look for Canterbury's ranking within the Class of 2014 to rise throughout the courseof the season. He currently has the tenth hoghest batting avergae in the St. Louis metro area.
