Underclassmen Spotlight: Brian Seymour, SS/OF, TF South HS, Class of 2014

Today we catch up with Brian Seymour, SS/OF, TF South HS, Class of 2014.

"Seymour is a 5-foot-9, 156-pound middle infielder who has an aggressive approach at the plate.  With a balanced setup and athletic hands, Seymour consistently barreled up the baseball while maintaining good balance throughout.  Defensively, Seymour showed a quick exchange and good positioning.  Additionally, he ran a 7.19 60 and was clocked at 75 mph."

PBR: Have you ever attended a Prep Baseball Report event?  If so what were your impressions of the event?
Seymour: I attended the Underclassman Invitational held this past January. I thought the showcase was a great opportunity to see how I measured up with other players in my class. The event was well run and had a lot of talented players.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?
Seymour: Probably my aggressiveness at the plate would be considered my biggest strength.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what are you most excited about this summer?
Seymour: I play for the Lansing Redbirds and I am excited about being able to play in a few college showcase tournaments and playing against the top talent across the state.

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for your summer team for the rest of spring and summer?
Seymour: My individual goals for the rest of the spring is to continue to improve my game and to help my team reach its potential. Over the summer, my goals are to gain strength and become a better all-around player and help the team have success.


PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?
Seymour: Winning the Babe Ruth Northern Illinois State championship three years in a row and playing in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament each of those years.
 
PBR: What are your stats so far in the High School season?
Seymour: This is my second year on the varsity and I am batting .360 with an OBP of .530.  And a fielding percentage of .974.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter/pitcher that you have faced?
Seymour: The toughest pitcher I have faced in High School is Brett Lilek of Marian Catholic.
