Unsigned Senior Games: Team Navy Player Analysis







On Sunday, October 11th, we hosted the annual fall Unsigned Senior Games at Grand Park in Westfield, IN.  


Prior to the game, position players ran through a pro-style workout where they were timed in the 60-yard dash, had their position velocity recorded as well as their exit velocity recorded.  Pitchers had their velocities recorded during the game.

TEAM NAVY

Janzen Bloom, RHP, Seymour HS - #0

A 6-foot-3 230 pound uncommitted RHP showcased a quick arm from ¾ arm slot.  Delivery has some effort and is clean.  Fastball showed slight run at 85-87.  Breaking ball had 10/4 shape and sat 72-74mph.  He threw it to both sides of the plate.  Change-up showed fade and ASR at 78mph.   Janzen missed barrels and pounded zone with FB/SL combination.  

Ethan Brooks, SS, Center Grove HS - #83

A 5-foot-10 180 pound utility player ran a 6.86 60 yd dash.  Ethan showcased a short and loose arm.  Hands were above average and footwork was fluid.  Arm strength was average.  Offensively, Ethan has a balanced setup with small leg kick.  Bat speed is above average with an uphill path.  Tendency to dive forward.

Jordan Cox, SS/RHP, Zionsville HS - #68 

A 6-foot-2 165 pound infielder showcased smooth actions defensively.  Hands are soft, quick exchange, and loose arm.  Offensively, Jordan has a tall and open setup.  Bat speed is above average and gets some use out of backside.  Bat path is short to the ball.  Good athleticism at plate.  Produced an exit velo at 88.  On the mound, Jordan sat 83-85, touching 86 and pounded zone.  Slider sat 74-76 with 10/4 shape and late break.  Change-up was used well to LHH’s with fade at 75mph.   Solid two-way athlete with room to fill in.  

Jack Eggleton, OF, Brebeuf HS - #84 

A 5’10 148 pound OF ran a 6.85 60 yd dash and showcased athletic actions in the outfield.  Footwork is quick and exchange is fluid.  Arm strength will need to improve.  Offensively, Jack has a balanced setup with a short stride.  Bat speed is above average and a level bat path.  Jack produced several line drives. 

Michael Hogan, C, Brebeuf HS - #36 

A 5-foot-9 175 pound catcher showcased a good transfer and quick arm from behind the plate.  Pop times were 2.04-2.15.  At 3B, hands were soft and footwork was quick.  Plays thru the ball well.  Offensively, he has a balanced setup and good lower half.  Barrel gets to the ball well.  Produced several line drives.  

Cole Jacobs, OF, Hamilton Southeastern HS - #85

A 5-foot-11 165 pound outfielder ran an event best, 6.72 60yd dash.  Footwork is quick with a clean exchange and loose arm action from the outfield.   Throws topped at 85mph.  Presents athletic actions defensively.  Offensively, Cole has a balanced setup and minimal hand load.  Has a tendency to dive forward.  Barrel is quick and bat path is uphill.  Line drive approach at the plate.  

Kyler Jeter, 3B, North Putnam HS - #86

A 6-foot-2 225 pound third baseman presented athletic actions defensively.  Hands are soft and footwork is fluid.  Throws were accurate and topped at 73mph.  Offensively, Kyler has a balanced setup with a short stride.  Produces some pop at the plate.  Has a tendency to spin the hips.    Bat path is long and uphill.  Exit velocity was 84mph. 

Nick Jones, SS, New Castle HS - #87 

A 5-foot-10 160 pound middle infielder showcased quick footwork and soft hands defensively.  Arm strength is average and throws were accurate.  Offensively he has a balanced setup with above average bat speed.  Bat path is short and level.  Line drive approach.  Nick ran a 7.04 60yd dash. 

Brennan Kelly, LHP, Southwood HS - #88 

A 6-foot-1 175 pound left-handed pitcher showcased a fastball that sat 79-81 and topped at 83.  Delivery has some effort with good balance and rhythm.  Breaking ball was gradual with a 1/7 shape and sat 60-61.  Change-up had slight fade at 67-68mph.  

Logan Long, 1B/LHP, Frankton HS - #89 

A 6-foot-1 196 pound left-handed pitcher showcased a ¾ arm slot with average arm speed.  Presents good rhythm and balance through delivery.  Fastball sat 70-73 and touched 74.  Breaking ball sat 62-65 with 1/7 shape and gradual break.  Offensively, Logan has a balanced setup with a small leg kick.  Bat speed is above average with a long bat path.  At 1B, hands were average and exchange was clean.  Throws were accurate and topped at 72mph. 

Jay Lorenz, OF, Providence HS - #90 

A 5-foot-10 160 pound utility player ran a 7.69 60 yard dash.  Offensively, he presents above average actions from an open setup and long stride.  Tendency to dive forward at times.  Bat speed was average and bat path is long.  Defensively, footwork is fluid and hands are average.  Throws were accurate from a long arm action.  Outfield velocity topped at 80mph. 

Alan Lozer, RHP/SS, North Central HS- #91 

A 6-foot 165 pound right-handed pitcher throws from a high ¾ arm slot and long arm action.  Rhythm is smooth and effort is easy.  Showcased a good mix of pitches in game to miss barrels.  Fastball sat 77-79 with slight ASR.  Change-Up sat 68-70 with good depth.  He throws two different breaking pitches, one with more of a sweeping slider action at 66-68.   The up and down curveball was 62-65.  All were thrown for strikes.  Offensively, Alan has a balanced setup with a leg kick.  Barrel gets good extension with above average bat speed.   Exit velocity was 87mph.  At SS, he has above average hands and a quick exchange.  Throws topped at 81mph across the INF.

Taylor Matthews, C, New Castle HS- #92 

A 6-foot-1 190 pound catcher presented a quick transfer and average arm action.  Has a tendency to pop up.  Pop times were between 2.01-2.15.  Offensively, he has an open setup with good balance.   Bat speed is average and bat path is level.  Produced some pop during batting practice with multiple line drives.   Exit velocity was 85mph. 

Sam Micheels, 1B, Carmel HS - #93 

A 6-foot-5 200 pound first basemen ran a 7.13 60 yd dash.  At the plate, he has a tall and open setup.  Bat speed is above average with good extension.  Produced some pop pull side.   Exit velocity was 88mph. 

Kelly Rider, RHP, Charlestown HS - #94 

A 6-foot-2 230 pound right-handed pitcher showcased a high ¾ arm slot with above average arm speed.  Fastball sat 80-82 but was erratic in the zone.  Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with sharp break.  Location was inconsistent.   Brian keeps good direction and rhythm through his delivery.  

Andrew Rolfsen. OF, Bishop Dwenger – #95 

A 6-foot 185 pound outfielder showcased a long and loose arm action defensively.  Throws were accurate with carry.  Hands were above average with a fluid exchange.  Offensively, he presents a balanced setup with a leg kick.  Bat speed is above average with a short bat path.   Andrew produced an exit velo of 83mph.  

Krae Sparks, RHP, Greenwood Christian HS - #96

A 6-foot-6 195 pound right-handed pitcher showcased a long arm action with H ¾ arm slot.  Delivery has some effort and rhythm is smooth.  Fastball sat 78-81 and thrown for strikes.  Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with gradual break at 64-66mph.  Change-up was thrown at 69mph with some fade.  

Tye Thixton, OF, Center Grove HS - #97

A 5-foot-11 165 pound outfielder ran a 7.00 60 yd dash.  Arm action is loose from a ¾ arm slot in the outfield.  Throws topped at 86mph and were accurate.  Footwork is fluid and exchange is clean.  Offensively, Tye has a balanced setup with good balanced.  Bat speed is above average with a level swing.  Line drive approach with an exit velocity of 86mph. 

Atom Ward, 2B, Charlestown HS - #98 

A 5-foot-11 150 pound infielder ran a 7.5 60yd dash.  Defensively, he has a short arm action with above average arm strength.  Throws in the infield topped at 85.  Footwork is average.  At the plate, Atom has a balanced setup.  Bat path is level.  Atom produced an exit velocity of 75mph.
