Nick Dorman, OF/C, Blue Springs HS
PBR: What do you expect going into your senior season?
Dorman: Blue springs high school has a great amount of talent going into this year so I expect to help my team go deep into the state tournament. I expect to continue to work hard and achieve individual goals that I have set for myself.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?
Dorman: My biggest strength is that I am a team player and do whatever I can to help my team win games. My biggest individual strength as a player is my hitting. I have excellent strike zone discipline, im a solid opposite field hitter and I hit for power and average. I think the reason I hit so well is because I’m never content and think about what I could have done better so I can work on it.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?
Dorman: I feel that I need to gain speed and be faster so I’ve been working with a speed and agility coach to improve in this area.

PBR: What are your expectations and experiences in the recruiting process?
Dorman: My expectations would be I want to play somewhere that will help me learn more about the game and hopefully I will have several options to choose from. I haven’t singled in on any one college at this time.

PBR: What type of program would you like to play at? What is most important to you: Caliber of program, coaching staff, academics, etc…?

Dorman: I would like to play at a program that is knowledgeable about baseball and cares about the game as much as I do so that they can take me to the next level. The coaching staff would be important to my decision but it must also have a strong academic program.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?
Dorman: I am interested in the university of central Missouri, Missouri western. I have not decided on a certain college but I know I want to go somewhere that has a strong baseball program and is not too far away from home.

PBR: What were your personal goals for the 2012 season and were they met? Goals for the 2013 season?
Dorman: In 2012 I just wanted to be a contributing varsity baseball player and keep my batting average above .350 and help my team win as many games as possible. I batted .409 and my team placed second in districts and second in conference. I was 1st team all conference, first team all district and named to the all area team.  In 2013 I want to help our team win a state title, bat over .400 and earn higher individual awards than my 2012 season.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?
Dorman: Millhouse AEP

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have faced?
Dorman: Matt Hall from Lee’s Summit West and Dalton Moats from Park Hill.

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2012 baseball season (High School or Summer)?
Dorman: Beating our crosstown rivals Blue Springs South in the district tournament. I went 2 for 3 (single, double) driving in 4 RBI’s in our 6-4 win.

PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?
Dorman: In my first at bat on varsity I hit a grand slam.

PBR: You recently attended a PBR Showcase, what are your thoughts on how it will be beneficial to you as you keep moving forward in the recruiting process?
Dorman: I think it will be beneficial because they have a good reputation and are widely respected in the baseball community.
