Video Analysis: Unsigned Senior Showcase - Pitchers

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

We had a successful unsigned senior showcase on Saturday, January 16th, 2016. Here is a look at pitchers evaluations from that event.

2016 RHP Ryan Sinclair Lake Hamilton HS

Sinclair is a 5-foot-9 180-pound right-hander with a medium frame and build. He pounded the strike zone with a fastball of 78-81 mph. He compliments his fastball with a change up and curveball. He threw an 11/5 curveball 67-69 mph. His changeup was thrown 66-68 mph with near fastball arm speed. He works from a H ¾ arm slot with average arm speed. He repeats his mechanics on a consistent basis which allows him to command the strike zone. He would benefit from staying connected on the lower half and driving to the plate. Overall Sinclair is a strike throwing right-hander with the ability to compete with all three pitches.

2016 LHP Gunnar Williams Lake Hamilton HS

Williams is a 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-hander with a medium frame and an athletic build. He pitches with an elongated arm action from a H ¾ arm slot. He repeats his mechanics consistently with extra effort. He has deception to his delivery. He competes in the strike zone with his fastball 70-73 mph. He throws a 1/7 curveball 58-61 mph with late action. Overall Williams is a deceptive left-hander that competes in the strike zone.

2016 RHP Jonathan Estes Palestine-Wheatley HS

Estes is a 6-foot 175-right-hander with a large frame and a medium build. He pitches from a H ¾ arm slot with quick arm.  Mechanically, he Is raw. He would benefit from cleaning up some timing issues and keeping the front side in line. He repeats his mechanics they just cause him to lose his explosive lower half. He pitches off his fastball 80-82 mph. He flashes an 11/5 curveball with late actions, but lacks consistent action. He throws his changeup with fastball arm speed, with late sink. Overall Estes shows the raw ability to pitch at the next level, as he continues to refine his mechanics he should be a competitive arm for a program.
