Unsigned Senior Showcase: Preview

By Diego Solares

On Sunday, Oct. 11, the PBR Illinois crew will head to The MAX complex to host the fall’s annual Unsigned Senior Showcase, an event designed exclusively for uncommitted seniors in the area.

Roughly 130 players attended this event last year, 82 of which ended up committing to play baseball at the collegiate level. Registration for this event remains open and if you are interested in participating, click HERE. You can also find a link to the full up-to-date roster by clicking HERE

ROSTER

From a position player standpoint, there are a handful of ranked prospects that’ll be in attendance on Sunday, starting with right-handed-hitting OF Tyler McClure (Champaign Centennial, 2021). The looseness and fluidity in his actions on both sides of the ball paired up with a projectable 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame make McClure a rather enticing uncommitted athlete to follow. Two up-the-middle prospects worth mentioning that will also be at the MAX this Sunday: SS/RHP Brady Hartman (Sherrard, 2021) and SS Will Henson (Lane Tech, 2021).

Tyler McClure (8/11/20)

There are several interesting arms signed up for this event worth a mention. RHP Peyton Olejnik (Hanover Central, IN, 2021) stands at a lanky, long-levered 6-foot-8, 170-pounds and uses every bit of it to work downhill, making him an uncomfortable at-bat for anyone that steps into the box. He’s a follow arm who knows how to spin it, averaging 2,200 rpm on an 80-83 mph fastball while spinning in a sharp low-60s mph curveball at over 2,400 rpm on average.

RHP Christian Jensik (Oswego East, 2021) is a strong-armed right-hander with a 6-foot-2, 215-pound physical frame. We saw him up to 86 mph in August, sitting in the 83-85 mph range, while mixing in a 12/6 curveball with depth at 71-73 mph.
