Scouting Report

10/10/18 - 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame with thick lower half. Brings physical presence in box and has room to add even more mass in upper body. Young sets up with a wide balanced base, slightly open with a short, simple stride. Shows solid balance in swing and creates power with strength; 88mph exit velocity. Showed legitimate power to all fields and was seemingly most comfortable driving the ball to RCF; lets baseball travel deep in zone. Provides big target at first base and was comfortable around the bag; tended to field ball deep and play high on ground balls. Also posted 80 mph infield velo and 8.07 60-yard dash.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
Young: I’ve had interest expressed by Jucos around Arizona and New Mexico as well as Drury, UCCS, Arizona, Notre Dame, Nevada, Bethune Cookman, GCU, New Mexico State, and Lewis University.
PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?
Young: I have visited Arizona, Notre Dame, UCCS, Drury, GCU, and New Mexico State, and do not have any lined up in the near future.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Young: I’d like to go to a school with a sports management program because I’d like to be a sports agent after baseball, but I’d also like to see a good business school.
PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year, personally and as a team?
Young: I transferred to a new school my Junior year and had to sit a large portion of the season. When I hit a homer in I’m my first start once I was eligible I really felt like all my hard work in practice while not being eligible to play in games had payed off. As well as adapting to a new atmosphere and making all new friends and teammates was a great experience for me.
PBR: What goals do you have this year for yourself? What goals does your team have for the year?
Young: My team expects me to be a major force on our offense this year. I expect myself to achieve this as well as build upon my all around game and lead my team deep into the playoffs.
PBR: Are you playing with anyone this winter? If so, where?
Young: I played for T-Rex the previous winter but with high school season coming  up soon have no more tournaments or showcases scheduled.
PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?
Young: I scored 25 on my ACT and have a 3.55 GPA
