Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Hunter Hayes, INF, Adrian MI, 2013

Hunter Hayes, 3B/1B, Adrian HS, 2013

Today we turn our attention to an unsigned senior that is under the radar, Hunter Hayes from Adrian MI.  Hayes is a under recruited prospect that has not garnered the attention he deserves.

This past summer he was a major contributor in the Adrian Post 275 state title run.  The Adrian team finished 32-12 on the year and advanced to the Great Lakes National Tournament finishing 3rd overall.

Defensively Hayes plays at the corners in the infield.  We have seen hm both at third base and at first.  He is still a raw defender as he works to make improvements in this area.  However, he makes consistent and accurate throws across the diamond.

Where Hayes excels is offensively and he has some physical tools that should not be overlooked.  Hayes stands at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds and he still has plenty of room to add weight and strength.  He is a solid runner at 7.18 60-yard dash and his exit velocity registered at an impressive 88 mph.  From the plate, Hayes is a doubles machine.  Is hands work well as he whips the barrel through the zone.  The bat speed he generates sends balls flying into the gaps with ease.

Overall he is ranked No. 45 in the Class of 2013 but he may climb as he progresses.
