Willie Poe, LHP, Lexington Catholic HS, 2014

Willie Poe is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound LHP with good pitchability.  At the Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games in August, Poe showed the ability to consistently throw strikes with all of his pitches.  His fastball sat 79-80 mph and touched 81 on a few occasions.  He is able to work both sides of the plate with a fastball that shows some cutting action and a two-seamer with some arm-side run.  Poe’s secondary pitches are solid with a 67-68 mph curveball that shows late 1/7 action and a 70 mph changeup thrown with good arm action with some sink and fade.

Poe is coming off two impressive relief appearances while pitching for Kentucky Baseball Club at the WWBA Championship in Jupiter in which he allowed two hits and struck out six over 3.2 innings of work.  While he doesn’t light up the radar gun, Poe has a good idea how to get hitters out with his stuff.
