Unsigned Senior Spotlight: OF Cody Carroll

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director – Illinois/Wisconsin

Cody Carroll (2014) is a highly dynamic athlete with advanced physicality standing 6-foot-2, 200-pounds. Carroll is a right handed hitting outfielder from Glenbrook South HS who will be one of the highly talented prospects at the January Unsigned Senior Showcase. Currently ranked No. 70 in the state, Carroll is one of the best available prospects in the state.

Carroll possesses high level foot speed as a 6.72 runner. Defensively he shows smooth footwork in the outfield and fields the ball athletically, playing through the baseball with smooth actions. His arm played at 89 mph from the outfield this past summer with a loose action from a high ¾ arm slot. Carroll’s arm shows both accuracy and carry to his target.Cody Carroll

Offensively he hits from a tall stance with a short stride, displaying solid balance. Carroll has a quiet simple approach with above average bat speed. His short bat path with extension stays flat through the baseball using an occasional pull side approach.

Carroll is a strong student as well holding a 3.3 GPA and scoring a 28 on his ACT. The Glenbrook South outfielder is hoping to get into the math and science field in college, possibly engineering.

As a junior Carroll helped lead the Titans to a Regional Championship and was selected to the Central Suburban All-Conference team, hitting .415 on the year.
