Unsigned Senior Spotlight: OF Eric Weisbrod

By Steve Nielsen

Today’s Unsigned Senior Spotlight is on Eric Weisbrod. Weisbrod is going into his senior season at St. Catherines HS, where he is coming off of an unheralded season as he was voted the All-Racine County Player of the Year. Weisbrod put up a staggering set of numbers as he hit .470 with 35 RBI and 3 home runs. Weisbrod also stole 16 bases and played a near flawless centerfield. After putting up those kind of numbers as a junior, the sky is the limit on what he could produce in 2013.

Weisbrod is a 6-foot, 175-pound outfielder that is very athletic. Weisbrod is a smooth fielding outfielder that runs very efficient routes to the baseball. His arm plays well as he gets on top of the ball exhibiting good carry and staying true to its target. Offensively, Weisbrod swings a smooth left handed stick. He has an efficient inside-out swing that consistently produces line drives to the left-center gap.

Coming off of a stellar 2012 campaign you would think it would be hard for Weisbrod to duplicate his performance. However, Weisbrod is continually improving and working tirelessly this off-season to not only duplicate but improve on his 2012 numbers.
