Caleb Johnson, RHP, Tates Creek HS, Class of 2013

Today's player spotlight is on unsigned senior Caleb Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound RHP from Tates Creek HS in Lexington.

Johnson has a good frame with some projectability.  He has online, repeatable mechanics which allows him to be consistent in the strike zone with all 3 of his pitches.  Johnson throws from a 3/4 arm slot which allows for good arm side run on his 83-85 mph fastball.  He wraps a little on the backside but gets through the throwing slot consistently with quick arm speed.  He shows a tight 75-76 mph slider with good bite and a 74 mph change up with good arm action.  We saw Johnson throw in a fall game a few weeks ago, and it's obvious he knows how to pitch.

Look for Johnson to be a go to guy on the mound for Tates Creek again in 2013.  This team returns a bunch of talent and is certainly a team to watch in the 11th region.
