Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP/3B Dalton Pope

Dalton Pope, RHP/3B, Bourbon County HS, 2014pope

Dalton Pope is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound RHP/3B who showed one of the top infield arms and some pop in his bat at the Top Prospect Games Event at Eastern Kentucky University last June.

The strong-bodied Pope showed plenty of arm strength from his third base position at 86 mph across the infield.

At the plate, Pope showed the ability to barrel up the baseball with pull-side power.  He collected a sharp single and double off the left field wall in the game play portion of the event.  In addition, Pope registered a tee exit velocity of 87 mph and recorded a 7.25 60-yard time.

Though Pope didn’t pitch at the Top Prospect Games, he will be taking the mound at the Preseason All-State Showcase in Lexington on February 16.  We received reports of his fastball up to 87 mph during the summer, and if he is able to show that kind of velocity a few weeks from now, it undoubtedly makes him a very intriguing prospect.
