Wes Fauver, one of the top unsigned seniors in the 2012 class, was one of the top performers at the recent February 5th Unsigned Senior Showcase in Columbus.

At the event, Fauver showcased the strong arm that has allowed his high school coach Craig Kyle to play him at several positions throughout the past three seasons.

Fauver is still an unsigned senior, but mentions that he is considering, “Baldwin-Wallace and Tiffin and hopefully more schools by the end of this season.”

At the showcase, Fauver threw 81 mph across the infield while also demonstrating smooth hands and quick feet. On the mound, Wes’s fastball was 80-83 mph with his curveball sitting 65-66 mph and change-up at 64-67 mph.

In our interview, Fauver mentioned that it has been his dream to play collegiate baseball. He has been working hard since his freshman year to earn a starting spot on a Jonathan Alder program that has been extremely successful over the past five years.

Over the winter, Fauver created goals saying that, “I want to have all parts of my game to be the best it could be by March 2nd.” He goes on to say, “My goal for this spring and summer are to hit .375 and have a crisp glove all season and win a State Championship.”

Fauver said that his coach Craig Kyle has had the biggest influence on him throughout his baseball career and attributed his development as a player to him.

The talented infielder is just another product of the Jonathan Alder program that continues to produce college baseball players (Squire twins- OU; Mahan- Evansville; Miller- Evansville) at all levels.

When asked about his greatest strength and weakness, he replies “My biggest weakness is speeding the game up to much when I should slow it down and my biggest strength is my quick hands and reaction to the ball.”

February 5th was the first showcase that Fauver attended during his high school career. He says, “I had fun and got my name out there to some coaches.”

When we asked looking back if he would have gone to more now looking back on his experience he replied, “Yeah I would … it’s a good opportunity and got me some looks.”
