Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Zach Beaver (Pickerington Central)

Zach Beaver, RHP, Pickerington Central

Pickerington Central right-hander, Zach Beaver is one of the top pitcher’s still on the board.  The senior could become the third Division 1 recruit from Pick Central.  His two teammates who have given college commits are: Nick Jensen-Clagg (Kent State) and Evan Jensen (Akron).

Zach states, “I have been talking with several good schools and coaches from all Divisions including, NAIA, Division I, II and III for the past several months. The schools and coaches that I have talked with the most have been Akron, Wright State, Ohio University, Ohio Dominican, Tiffin and Walsh.”

As a 3-sport athlete, the senior has yet to reach his baseball potential.  “I like to compete and every coach that I have talked to has told me that I project well and will have a big upside when I play baseball only.”

Here is what PBR has to say about the 64th rated player in the class of 2012:

Beaver has a strong, athletic build with wide shoulders. He uses a max effort delivery. He shows command of an 86-88 mph fastball. He uses a power curveball, which shows 10/4 breaking action and sits at 73-76 mph. His changeup sits at 76-77 mph and has arm side fade.

On the hill last spring, Zach put up some impressive stats.  ERA 2.79, IP 32, 26 K’s, 4 BB, 4 Wins - 2 Losses - 2 Saves

With the numbers above and a 3.5 GPA, he feels he will make a decision in early in the season.

“It will all come down to which school and Baseball program feels right for me. The school that I choose has to feel right both academically and athletically. I have met some really good coaches and visited some great schools.”

Once again, this summer he will be playing for Legion State Qualifier, Pickerington Post 283.
