Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Zach Ryan (Miamisburg)

Zach Ryan, RHP, Miamisburg

Miamisburg right-handed pitcher Zach Ryan is continuing to look into his college options. With hopes of making a decision in late April the senior has plenty of schools to choose from.

Zach is currently talking to: Wright State, Ohio Northern, Heidelberg, Marietta and Sinclair.   The hurler states, “I've visited many of these schools and had a chance to meet with teams and coaches.  They were all very positive experiences.”

He obviously understands the importance of attending college showcases.  “I have actually attended two unsigned senior showcases.  They definitely helped me make contact with the colleges still looking to fill their rosters.”

Here is what PBR has to say about his performance:

Ryan is a tall, athletic right-handed pitcher. He uses a high ¾ to over the top arm slot and quick arm action. He shows a quick, fluid rhythm throughout his delivery. His fastball sits at 83-86 and shows some natural sink. His curveball is thrown near fastball speed and sits at 73-74 mph. It has sharp 11/5 breaking action. He needs to show better command of the pitch. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and thrown at 77-78 mph. It shows arm side run. 10/15/11 The 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed pitching prospect displayed an easy 82-85 mph fastball that he was able to locate on different side of the plate. His slider, which had a tight, late break, sat at 69-70 mph. Lastly, this changeup, which showed the occasional sink, registered at 73-74 mph.

When making his final decision, Zach has a will focus on two major areas.  “I'd like to play on a team that is competitive and will help me sharpen my skills.  Academics is also a very important part of my decision.”

Zach shows much appreciation to his coaches when discussing who has helped him along the way.  “I've been lucky over the past few years, both my high school and select coaches have played a huge part in helping me become a better baseball player.“

This summer, he will be playing for Team Easton, based out of Southern Ohio, where they are planning on attending numerous showcase tournaments.
