Climbing

No. 2 Mount Carmel and Edwardsville flip in the rankings with Edwardsville’s non-conference loss this week to DeSmet (Mo.). Champaign Central rises from No. 7 to No. 4, with their lone loss of the season coming on a walk-off home run against Mahomet-Seymour earlier in the year. Rockford Boylan remains undefeated at 16-0-1, climbing from No. 9 to No. 6. Metamora climbs back into the top 10 at No. 8 with a perfect week, and now sits at No. 17-3.

Sinking

No. 9 Joliet Catholic defeated No. 7 Providence on Tuesday, dropped an extra-inning affair on Wednesday with No. 11 Nazareth, tied Lockport on Friday night in a game called in the bottom of the seventh due to rain, and split a doubleheader with No. 25 Niles Notre Dame on Sunday.

No. 11 Nazareth lost to JCA on Monday, then dropped a Friday night contest to Ridgewood, but swept a doubleheader on Sunday with St. Patrick.

Lincoln-Way West dropped out of the top ten, but not far to No. 13, after losing a tough 1-0 pitcher’s duel between their ace Steven Skolarz and Bradley-Bourbonnais’ Tim Brokop.

New to the Power 25

Some familiar faces return to the Top 25 with Alton at No. 19, Plainfield North at No. 22, and Niles Notre Dame at No. 25. All three teams have been previously ranked, and have played extremely tough schedules.

No. 16 Morton enters the Power 25 thanks to a big non-conference win over No. 5 Chatham Glenwood this week.

No. 24 Prairie Ridge, perennially a top 25 program, also makes their first appearance in the Power 25.
