Updated Power 25

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

In the Daily Roundup article last Friday, I talked about the parity in the state the first two weeks of the season, as five of the top ten teams in the Power 25 went down to defeat Thursday evening. It’s probably something you can’t fully grasp until you sit down and start looking at results of games played since the season got underway, which I did yesterday, as it turned out, for hours.

I’ll spare you the details of all the “who has beaten who” scenarios and simply say this; since I began the Power 25 at the beginning of last season, this was the toughest one I have done yet, and it wasn’t even close.

Are there teams who have a strong case for the Power 25 that won’t find themselves in it this week?  Absolutely.  In fact, as I listed all of the teams who had a case, the number was well into the 30’s.  Power 34, anyone?  Unfortunately, that doesn't have the same ring to it.

Teams that find themselves on the outside looking in this week, such as Butler, Covington Catholic, Dixie Heights, Shelby County, CAL, St. Mary, Graves Co, Taylor Co, North Hardin, and a few others, rest assured we are keeping a close eye on you.

This week's top 5 looks like this:

1. tates creek 4-0
2. mercer CO 7-0
3. Paul Laurence Dunbar 7-2
4. St. Xavier 8-3
5. Lexington Catholic 5-2
