For the first time this season, Liberty Christian Academy will take over of the No. 1 spot in the Power 25 Rankings, presented by Prep Baseball Report VA/DC.
The Bulldogs have wins against the Covenant School, Collegiate, and Fork Union, as well as, battling a tough St. Christopher's squad to a 1-1 tie. They’re joined in the top 10 by two new teams this week—The Miller School (5-1) and Jamestown (2-0). The Miller School moved up 8 spots to No. 4 after wins over Tazewell (15-3), No. 13 Georgetown Prep (7-3), No. 1 St. Anne's Belfield (13-4), and No. 23 Benedictine (1-0). Jamestown moved up two spots to No. 8 after a 5-0 win over Grafton and a 10-0 win over New Kent. Other risers of note include Western Branch after their victory over No. 3 Hickory, Battlefield, Benedictine, and the Steward School.
St. Anne's-Belfield, meanwhile, dropped from No. 1 to No. 25 after going 0-2 last week and falling to 0-4 overall—including a loss to the Miller School. Georgetown Prep, No. 24, dropped from No. 13 after losing a game to Bishop McNamara. Three private schools fell out of the Power 25 this week. (No. 9 Paul VI, No. 21 Bishop O'Connell, and No. 25 DeMatha)
James River enters the rankings for the first time at No. 21 this season after going 2-0 this week with an impressive 13-3 win over perennial power Cosby. Collegiate enters the rankings at No. 22 after a win against Hargrave and a 8-7 loss to No. 2 Liberty Christian. Lee-Davis enters the rankings at No. 23 after their win against No. 5 Douglas Freeman.
