Today we are releasing our second update to the Virginia/DC Power 25. It has been two weeks since our last update. We wanted to wait an extra week for our update, as there were many teams on spring break playing multiple games and had a lighter week heading into the break.
Making the biggest jumps in the updated rankings are new No. 4 Lake Braddock and new No. 5 Madison. Both the Bruins and Warhawks made big statements over their spring break. Braddock rolled off eight wins in a ten day period, showcasing their deep pitching staff. The Bruins did not have any high caliber wins versus highly ranked opponents, but with them rolling off four wins in three days versus solid competition is very impressive.
The now No. 5 Madison Warhawks went to Myrtle Beach and handled a tough schedule, winning the DI bracket at the Mingo Bay tournament. Their only hiccup of the year was a one run loss in the middle of the tournament. Led by tournament MVP Bryce Eldridge, the Warhawks piled up forty runs over a five game span and beat another Virginia power, Battlefield, in the championship game.
We have eight new teams moving into the rankings, including St. Albans (DC). The Saints have depth on the mound and have shut down some quality opponents, including a 3-1 victory over Colgan.
