Welcome to the 2018 VA/DC Scoreboard, where we will post scores and recaps from games around our coverage area. We will put the Scoreboard up twice a week this season. The Tuesday scoreboard will feature games from the weekend and Monday. A second Scoreboard will run on Friday mornings with scores from the week. In these posts, we will focus on making sure scores and some recaps are included for teams in or near our Power 25.

Power 25 Rankings in the scoreboard reflect where a team was ranked at the time the game was played.

Rain most of the day Tuesday and Wednesday throughout Virginia and DC limited the number of games this week, but look for a full scoreboard next Tuesday after what is set to be perfect weekend.

No. 3 Lake Braddock 3, St. Alban’s 1
Will Reid (Tufts) led the eighth inning off with a home run and the Bruins would add another run before locking down the win. Matt Thomas (William & Mary) was 2-4 and Jack Darcy and Lyle Miller-Green (Virginia Tech) each had an RBI.

Thursday, April 26

No. 2 Benedictine 8, No. 9 Miller School 7
Jack Hall hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the top of the seventh for the Cadets. Greg Ryan (Pittsburgh) was also 1-2 with 2 BBs and a home run. Ryan and Hall went back to back in the third inning off of Miller School starter Ethan Murray (Duke). Carson Atkins had a home run and 3 RBIs for the Mavericks. Freshman Jay Woolfolk held Miller to just 6 hits in 6.1 innings on the mound to earn the win.

No. 7 Woodgrove 2, Loudoun County 1
Ryan Badillo delivered a 2 RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth as Woodgrove rallied to win. Nick Lockhart (Virginia Tech) and Jarrett LoRusso (Roanoke) combined to throw a no-hitter. Lockhart had 10 strikeouts in six innings and LoRusso added two more strikeouts picking up the save in the seventh inning.

Riverdale Baptist (MD) 4, No. 19 Battlefield 2
The No. 1 team in our Maryland Power 25 took advantage of 8 walks by Battlefield pitchers to break a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat the Bobcats. Austin Estridge (Roanoke) was 1-3 with a 2B and Jack Velardi was 1-3 with an RBI. Riverdale pitchers combined to strike out 11 Bobcats while walking none.

Colonial Heights 4, No. 17 Dinwiddie 2
Brandon Pond threw six innings and allowed just four hits to earn the win. Haden Crowder was 3-3 and Cole Foster was 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Colonials. Zackery Donovan was 1-2 with a BB and an RBI for the Generals.
