Welcome to the VA/DC Scoreboard. This year we will run our scoreboards on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We will always be sure to include scores and brief recaps of games involving Power 25 teams and will strive to get as many of the rest of the scores from the Commonwealth and the District as well.

 

Wednesday 4/3

No. 8 Miller School 6, St. Anne's-Belfield 3
Ethan Chenault (UNC Wilmington) was 3-3 at the plate with an RBI and struck out 9 in five innings of work to pick up the win for the Mavericks. Henry Hardie was also 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.

No. 11 Halifax County 5, Franklin County 4
The Comets scored two in the bottom of the seventh to come from behind and walk off on a Dylan Clark RBI single. Clark went 2-4 in the game and Joey Duffer had a home run. Drew Harlow (Radford) and Christian Worley (Virginia Tech) were strong in relief for Halifax, with Harlow striking out all 4 batters he faced. Franklin County got a strong start from Cameron Mullins, who held the Comets in check into the seventh inning and was also 1-2 with 2 RBIs while Grayson Chitwood was 2-4 with 2 doubles.

No. 21 Wilson (DC) 22, McKinley Tech 1
Wilson scored all of their runs in the first inning on 8 hits and 11 walks. Zach Lordan, Amartya Eswaran-King, and Jaime Stewart-Aday all were credited with 3 RBIs each for the Tigers.

No. 25 Stafford 5, Riverbend 4
Stafford scored 2 in the top of the ninth and then hung on to win. Junior Tucker Sullivan picked up the win with 5 innings of strong relief, striking out 6. Elijah Lambros was 3-5 with a triple and an RBI for the Indians and Seth Sherman (City College NY) was 2-4 with a double, walk, and an RBI for Riverbend.

Thursday 4/4

West Potomac 3, No. 5 Potomac 1
Jack Bachmore struck out 8 and allow just 2 hits in 5 scoreless innings and Jacob Trumbo was 2-3 for the Wolverines as the handed Potomac its first loss of the spring.

No. 6 Battlefield 11, Stonewall Jackson (Manassas) 0
Five Bobcats had multiple RBIs, and CJ Miles continued his hot start, going 2-2 with 2 walks. Adam Kuzmicki was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and threw 3 strong innings in the win. 

No. 7 Greenbrier Christian 6, Norfolk Academy 3
Nic Britt (William & Mary) had a home run and Josh Stevens (CNU) was 2-3 with 4 RBIs as the Gators won despite being out-hit. Ethan Hennessey and Brett Pezzella each had 3-hit games for Norfolk with Hennessey also driving in 3 runs.

No. 10 Liberty Christian 15, EC Glass 4
Pell Collins (Liberty) didn't hit another home run, but he was 2-2 with 2 walks and 3 RBIs and Bailey Reynolds was 2-3 with a double, a triple and 2 RBIs.

No. 16 Hanover 5, Fredericksburg Christian 0
Four Hawk pitchers combined on a 3-hit shutout, with Cole Wallace (Randolph-Macon) throwing the first 3 innings. Sam Lipscombe and Caydon Richardson had multi-hit games in the win.

Rustburg 7, No. 17 Jefferson Forest 6
The Red Devils hung on to win as the Cavaliers scored two in the seventh and left two runners in scoring position when the game ended. Chance Holt, Nick Rakes, and Coleman Inge all had multi-hit games for Rustburg with Holt also driving in 3 runs. Isaiah Blanks kept the JF offense under control for six innings to earn the win.

No. 21 Wilson (DC) 7, DeMatha (MD) 3
Colin Bosley-Smith (Duke) got the win with 5 strong innings and Charlie Ganote shut the door with 3 strikeouts in 2 scoreless innings of relief. Bosley-Smith was also 2-2 with 2 walks and a double. Zach Lordan was 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Noah Gold also had a double and 2 RBIs.
