Young and talented in 2022, the Trojans are back in 2023. Battle lost in the state championship by a final score of 4-2, impressive for a team with its fair share of freshmen and sophomores. Evan Hankins (Tennessee) is one of the best players in the state, regardless of class, and they have some talent and depth on the mound. They will need to replace some of the middle of the order bats that graduated, but their depth on the mound is hard to look past. Most of their arms were very young and inexperienced last year. They cruised most of their in state/district schedule and it is easy to see why the John Battle Trojans are one of the favorites in 2023.
