WPIAL Playoff Brackets Announced



The WPIAL playoff brackets were announced today and seven teams ranked in the PBR Pennsylvania Top 25 Rankings received byes in the first round. 

No. 1 ranked Norwin, No. 2 ranked Bethel Park and No. 13 ranked Seneca Valley all received byes in the first round in the Class AAAA bracket. No. 3 ranked Blackhawk and No. 5 ranked Hopewell received byes in the first round in the Class AAA bracket. In Class AA, No. 21 ranked Ellwood City received the only bye in the bracket. No. 19 ranked, and undefeated, California received one of three byes issued in the Class A bracket.

The only raining champion not to make this year's field is Class AAA Elizabeth Forward. Seneca Valley in Class AAAA, Riverside in Class AA and Neshannock in Class A all return to defend their crowns.

Playoff action begins Monday, May 14th in all classifications with the championships scheduled for Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th at Consol Energy Park in Washingon, PA. Prep Baseball Report will have complete coverage of each round of action leading up to the championship round.
