It has been a rain filled start to the 2019 Spring schedule, but all this rain has made it easy to see a large group of talented prospects in one place. Here is a look at more of the top committed and uncommitted talent from the past few days at Lake Point.

 

Jacob Profit SS / 2B / Houston County, GA / 2020 This uncommitted, undersized 2020 shortstop from Houston County high school has plenty of range to stay at short, and his hands are good enough to stay in the dirt also. A little bit of a shoulder thrower, Profit will need to be a quicker release guy as he climbs to the next level. Offensively he has the ability to play the small game and is always a candidate for an infield hit. Profit can really run and it does not take him long to be at top speeds. n a drag bunt from the right side, Profit turned in a 3.71 down the line. It is hard for college coaches to walk away from impact speed and look for this guy to find a home at the next level soon.

 

 

 

Jaden Woods LHP / Houston County, GA / 2020 Rankings  StateRank: 36 / POS: 6 Woods is a terrific looking athlete. The Georgia State Commit has tons of ability on the mound with his fastball already touching mid-to-upper-80’s, Woods shows a repeatable delivery and arm stroke. He is aggressive to the zone and goes after hitters.  Don’t sleep on Mr. Woods as a possible two-way guy, because he has some ability inside the batters box also.

 

 

 

Coleman Willis RHP / 1B / Houston County, GA / 2021 This 6-foot-6 uncommitted (2021) right-hander, has long arms and shows pretty good body control for a young kid. At this time he can be described in one word "Lanky". His fastball can get up into the 86-87 MPH range and he works off a good front side and shows shoulder tilt in his delivery. His fastball plays with angle over life at this time. Willis does show feel for a breaking ball with solid shape and should add power as he developes. Easy to see Willis' strong potential and also has plenty of time too grow into it.

 

 

Andrew Jenkins 3B / Pace Academy, GA / 2019 This 2019 catcher heading to Georgia Tech is a very interesting hitter, with power and the ability to use the field. He has a strong accurate arm from behind the plate and receives the ball fine. Jenkins spends his summers at 3B and it will be interesting to see what position is the best fit him at the next level, but the batter’s box is no doubt home for this young hitter.

 

 

Taylor Shultz SS / 2B / Allatoona, GA / 2022 Freshman shortstop starting at a place like Allatoona High School is saying something. The undersized Shultz needs to get bigger and stronger at the plate, like any 2022 would. Defensively he made some show stopping type plays.  It is unclear what level he will fit best at this time, but there is little doubt he fits at the next level. Allatoona is holding their own now and are in the midst of a youth movement. They will be hard to handle this year and beyond in large part because of players like Shultz.

 

Logan McGuire RHP / Allatoona, GA / 2021 The 6-foot-3 (2021) RHP committed to Cincinnati shows lots of very good ingredients to be a true power pitcher down the road. He can run the ball up into the upper-80’s and already has some feel for pitching inside, which is not regular for a young arm.  McGuire also shows some feel to spin and looks like a guy that will have a complete arsenal by 2021.
