Prep Baseball Report

Welcome to the new PBR website

Welcome to the new and improved Prep Baseball Report website. Hopefully you will find the new site more robust than ever, and significantly easier to navigate through the thousands of videos, player profiles, and news stories.

This process, similar to that of passing a kidney stone, began about 10 months ago, spurred by the feedback of our tens of thousands of faithful users who said while they loved all the comprehensive information, the site was somewhat difficult to navigate, particularly for the college coaches who bounced between our state-specific sites.

So to the lab we went, devising the most effective way to give you a user-friendly experience without compromising the integrity of the information, all the while empowering you with the ability to navigate through all the Prep Baseball Report coverage, or just zero-in on the state you care about most.

Search. Filter. Explore.

Everything on the new site is easily searchable. You can now filter your search to your desired needs. In the Find A Player module, located on nearly every page, you can type in a last name – Smith, for example. All the Smiths from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Missouri will populate. You can then pick which one you want. Now, let’s say you’re not looking for a specific player, but a type of player – a left-handed pitcher, Class of 2013, from Ohio. Filter your search to your desired specifications, and voila, your list is populated.

On the main page, all the news stories, events, player rankings can be filtered by state as well. For those of you who only care about your hometown state, you can simply bypass the main page and click the STATES drop down menu at the top left-hand corner to pick which state-specific site you want. If you click ILLINOIS, all information on Illinois’ main page will be only Illinois news, players, events, etc. Same with Ohio, Indiana, Missouri. We thought it was critical to still have that state-specific site feel for our users because, well, we know that many of you don’t care about the other states.

Player Profiles

Our mission at the Prep Baseball Report is to help student-athletes achieve their goals of playing baseball at the next level. We do this through our events, news stories, videos and player profiles we create for prospects. Our goal was to consolidate a prospect’s information so a college coach or scout could find everything they need in one search. So we folded the Video Center into the Player Profiles. No more searching player profiles, then having to go back to the Video Center to find the video. All prospect videos are now listed in their respective profile, and you can watch the videos without going to a different page.

The basics of the profile remain intact. All prospects’ information – picture, size, class, school – in addition to Prep Baseball Report verified statistics, are there. At the bottom of the profile, however, you will find a tabulated module which has all the players’ videos, a comment/analysis section, and a few more exciting new features.

The first exciting feature is a NEWS tab. Moving forward, any time a news story is written about a prospect on the Prep Baseball Report site, that story will be linked back to his profile, which will ultimately provide the user more in-depth information about the player without any effort. Please know that we have not retroactively tagged the thousands of news stories on the site to the profiles; as we continue to add daily content, those stories will be linked back to the players’ profiles.

The second new feature is the SHOWCASES tab. Moving forward, all events a player attends will be linked to his profile, thereby enabling the user to see how the prospect did at a specific event, along with all the other participants at the event.

Social Media

Now, every news story and profile can be rebroadcasted through Twitter and Facebook. Someone you know just had a story written about him, click the Facebook Like icon. You earned top prospect honors at a Prep Baseball Report event, re-tweet the story. Following Prep Baseball Report on Twitter is the fastest way of getting the most up-to-date information about recruiting, commitments and news.

Hopefully you enjoy all the new features the website offers. We sincerely thank you for your continued support of the Prep Baseball Report.

Thank you,

Sean Duncan
