The West Jones Mustangs are coming off a Mississippi 5A State Championship season that saw their pitching and defense about as dominant as you can imagine at the high school level. With a team ERA of 2.07 and a fielding percentage of .973 its hard to imagine repeating these type of numbers. 

 

Head Coach Trey Sutton has reason to get excited though. Take a look at the arms he has coming back in search of a repeat. 

 

2020 RHP - Sam Hill (Pearl River CC commit, #31 in the PBR MS 2020 rankings), a 6’6’ 200lb hard thrower with a projectable frame. Sam’s fastball reached 91 mph in a recent bullpen. Sam was invited and attend the PBR Top Prospects Games in July, and he has continued to get stronger. 

 

2020 RHP - Adam Bassett (Uncommitted, #78 in the PBR MS 2020 rankings), spends most of his time behind the plate but carries a fastball that reaches up to 86 mph. 

 

 

 

 

2021 RHP - Cole Tolbert (Uncommitted, #19 in the PBR MS 2021 rankings), another large frame at 6’3” and reaching 90 mph along with a good feel for his off speed stuff.

 

 2021 RHP - Kace Matthews (Uncommitted), a sidearmer with great arm side movement and sweeping slider. 

 

 2022 RHP - Francisco Elvira (Uncommitted, #21 in the PBR MS 2022 rankings), an up and coming arm that has already reached 90 mph and a curveball that shows lots of depth. 

 Other arms in the Mustang bullpen include, 2020 RHP Will Pitts, 2021 RHP Austin Moody, and 2022 RHP Cade Mauldin. All possible college recruits!
