Elite 8 of Phil Lawler Classic is set

The Elite Eight of the Phil Lawler Classic is set after the completion of Thursday’s regional finals. The Phil Lawler Classic, formerly known as the Illinois High School Coaches Association Summer State Tournament, will conclude next Thursday night at Benedictine University. The Elite Eight will take place at two sites – Benedictine University and North Central College – beginning Monday, July 26.

The winners of Thursday’s regional finals:

Fenwick Regional: Nazareth Academy defeated St. Joseph, 10-0

Glenbard South Regional: Neuqua Valley defeated Wheaton North, 7-0

Libertyville Regional: Lake Zurich defeated Stevenson, 6-3

Palatine Regional: Palatine defeated Maine South, 12-3

Prospect Regional: Streamwood defeated Dundee-Crown, 8-1

Richards Regional: St. Laurence defeated Mount Carmel, 18-17

Sandburg Regional: Providence Catholic defeated Sandburg, 14-11

St. Charles East Regional: St. Charles East defeated Prairie Ridge, 6-5
