Red-hot Normal West (9-3) put a whipping on No. 2 Chatham Glenwod (9-2) in Chatham on Friday. The Wildcats won their sixth straight game by annihilating the defending Class 3A Champs 11-0 in six innings. Wildcat sophomore RHP Matt James (2-0) allowed two hits in his five-inning performance against the hard-hitting Titans. James? batterymate, fellow sophomore Adam McGininnis, went deep with a pair of Wildcat baserunners on, to help his classmate on the mound. Senior Eric Sipe blasted a two-run homer and senior Kyle Vaughn chipped in with three hits. It doesn?t get any easier for the ?Cats, as No. 8 O?Fallon (11-1) visits at noon on Saturday.

No. 8 O? Fallon (11-1) slammed Civic Memorial 7-1 on Friday. Sophomore RHP Jacob Jarvis (1-0) picked up the win on the mound and homered and drove in two runs for the Panthers. Junior Cory Beyersdorfer chipped in with a pair of ribbies for O? Fallon.

Waterloo improved to 10-0 as the Bulldogs hammered Edwardsville 8-1 behind sophomore Alex Wittenauer. Wittenauer fired a four-hitter and struck out five Tiger batters to improve to 3-0 for the ?Dogs.

Mascoutah (10-2) routed Carbondale 12-2 as Indian senior Kyle Culli picked up the win on the mound and improved to 5-0. Seniors Caleb Kreijev and Tycen Wager led the Indian attack. Kreijev drove home three and Wager drove home his 19th and 20th runs of the season.

Aurora Christian (9-2) spotted 2010 Class 1A champ Westminster Christian an early 1-0 lead and then went to work, scoring  the next eight runs of the game and went on to a 9-3 nonconference victory, under the lights at Judson College in Elgin.

After Westminster Christian (5-5) put a run on the board in the top of the first against Aurora Christian starting and  winning pitcher junior Bobby Kuntzendorf, the Eagle offense responded by scoring five times in the bottom half of the inning. AC added three more in the second and this one was put to bed early. Eagle senior Brent Minta led the Eagle attack with a pair of hits, including a double, and had two RBI. Red-hot junior Bobby McCracken drove in three more Eagle runs. Juniors Josh Haugen and Jake Hansen each chipped in with two hits; Haugen  drove in an Eagle run. Kuntzendorf fanned nine in his 6 ? innings of work to improve to 3-0 on the mound in 2011. Dylan Scully homered for Westminster Christian.

Marian Catholic (8-2) rolled past Joliet Central 9-4. Spartan junior Devin Pickett and senior Richie Cervantes each had two hits and two RBI to lead the Spartans to their third consecutive win.

Ottawa Marquette improved to 9-0 with a 2-0 win over Decatur St. Teresa on Friday. Crusader Ben Thumm did it all for Marquette. In the fourth inning with a Crusader teammate on board Thumm hammerd a two-run shot to give himself all the support he would need. Thumm (4-0) would go on to fire a four-hit shutout with three strikeouts.

In S. Illinois River-River-Ohio action, No. 17 Harrisburg (9-2; 2-0) defeated West Frankfort 11-1 in six innings. Bulldog sophomore Ryne Roper hit a pair of homers and drove home three. Senior Logan Leverett and John A. Logan College-bound Keelin Rasch also went deep for Harrisburg. Rasch fired four shutout innings on the mound to pick up the win.

Pleasant Plains (8-1) slid past Sullivan 2-1 behind junior Kyle Weller. Weller fired a one-hitter and struck out 15 to improved to 4-0 on the mound, for the Cardinals.
Cardinal senior Danny Reiser continued his torrid hitting with a perfect 3-for-3 day for Plains.
