No. 5 St. Laurence (6-1) blanked Maine East 11-0 in five innings behind junior LHP Nick Altobella (2-0). Altobella did not allow a hit and struck out 11 Demon hitters in his  five-inning masterpiece. University of Illinois-bound C Charlie Naso was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Purdue-bound Viking RF Kyle Wood doubled home a pair of runs as the Vikings rebounded from their loss to L-W East on Thursday.

Richards (1-0) slipped past Lincoln-Way East 4-3 in the Bulldogs? season-opener. Carlos Rodriguez (1-0) allowed three unearned runs and did not allow a Griffin hitter to hit safely against him in his unique no-no. Jim Augle led the Bulldog attack with two RBI.

Lincoln-Way Central (3-1) white-washed Kankakee 10-0 in five innings as Knight 6-foot-3 sophomore LHP Matt Mikolajcak (2-0) fired a no-hitter, striking out five. Senior Ty Gellenger had two hits and two RBI to lead the Knight attack.

Notre Dame (1-0) routed Niles North 10-0 in five innings behind senior Andrew Gustafson. Gustafson fired a five-inning no-no at the Vikings in the Dons? season-opener. Junior 3B Kevin Stahmer had a pair of hits, including a double with two RBI. Senior Jeff Von Moser doubled twice for the Dons and drove home a run. Junior Nick Pieruccini joined the Dons double parade among his 2-for-2 afternoon and had an RBI.

Andrew (1-1) won an extra-inning thriller in the opening game of the Lenz Field Tournament at Jacksonville High School . T-Bolt senior 2B Phillip Bria singled home Brian Cobb (2-for-3) with the game winner in the bottom of the eighth, as the T-Bolts defeated Danville 4-3.

Bloomington (3-2) rallied past Lincoln 5-4 in a thriller in Bloomington. Senior Matt Mardis blasted a game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Purple Raiders past the Railsplitters. Senior Kyle Johnson (1-0) fired 2 ? scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

Bloomington Central Catholic (3-3) slipped past Maret Academy of Washington D.C., 1-0 in eight innings. The Saints were led by senior Jesse Heaton. Heaton (2-0) fired a four-hit shutout striking out four and singled home the game-winner as the Saints evened up their record.
