Highland Park catcher Jason Goldstein, who?s the No. 5-ranked prospect in the Class of 2012, has verbally committed to the University of Illinois. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Goldstein is arguably the best right-handed hitter in the junior class. As a sophomore on varsity last spring, Goldstein tallied 18 doubles, 3 home runs and 32 RBI for the Giants. Goldstein also possesses a top-level arm behind the plate, as he consistently fires 1.9-2.0 pop times.

In other news, K.J. Kinsella, a senior LHP from Fremd HS, has committed to the University of Illinois-Springfield.
