Whitney Young coach Chris Cassidy earned his 300th victory at the school, and did so in impressive fashion. Cassidy’s Dolphins knocked off No. 15 Mount Carmel 12-10 in a nonconference game Monday.

Matt Otero went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI, while Eugene Tabb added two RBI for the Dolphins.

St. Charles East 9, Barrington 0: Junior left-hander Wes Benjamin struck out five and allowed three hits in five innings to lead the Saints past No. 11 Barrington. Ryan Sotern drove in three runs to power the Saints to a nonconference win.

Burlington Central 6, Crystal Lake Central 5: Austin Jarvis hit a two-run homer in the fifth and drove in the game-winner with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly as the visiting Rockets won their opener.

Lincoln-Way Central 10, Shepard 2: Tom Helwich and TJ Seibt both went 2-for-4 as the Knights won their opener.

Proviso West 8, Northridge 4: Louis Whittier went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs, three RBI and three steals to lead the Panthers. Winning pitcher Andrew Molley struck out seven in six innings.

Reavis 6, Nazareth 5: Rod Rabakozi went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base to pace the Rams (3-0) over No. 40 Nazareth.

St. Laurence 9, Richards 5: The No. 17 Vikings rolled behind junior Kyle Wood's all-around performance. Wood, who’s committed to Purdue, went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and five RBI. He also struck out five in five innings for the win.

St. Rita 14, Lake View 1: The No. 2 Mustangs rolled. Northern Illinoi- bound Anthony Andres went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and five RBI, and struck out four in three innings in the Mustangs’ opener. Mark Payton slugged a three-run homer for St. Rita and Sean Scaduto drove in two runs.
