More recruiting news from around the state

Matt Meadows, a left-handed hitting OF/LHP from O?Fallon HS, has committed to Austin Peay State University. As a junior, Meadows hit .370 with 4 doubles, 3 home runs and 28 RBI while compiling a 2-2 record  on the mound to help lead the Panthers to a supersectional berth. ?

Another Nazarth Academy player has picked his school, this time it is RHP Patrick Kelly, who committed to Grand Valley State in Michigan. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound right-hander showed over the summer that he could dial his fastball up to 88 mph, sitting mid-80s, with good command. Kelly also has feel for a curveball and changeup, which he used to go 8-1 with a 2.70 ERA in the spring for the Roadrunners. Kelly also played a key role in Nazareth?s summer state championship. Kelly marks the sixth commitment in Nazareth?s senior class. ?

Quincy Collins, a RHP from Simeon HS, has committed to Kentucky State University. As a junior, Collins had a 4-1 record with a 2.23 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.  He is the second senior to commit for Simeon, joining shortstop Quintin Richardson, who earlier had committed to Western Illiniois University.

Two more players from Heartland CC are moving on: MIF Nate Sopena (Huntley HS) has committed to Eastern Illinois University, while RHP Joe Krasny (St. Joseph HS) has committed to Quincy University.
