Some more prospects are off the board:

Bobby Colantouno, a speedy OF from Thornton Fractional South HS, has committed to Prairie State College. Colantouno impressed at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in the fall when he ran a 6.6 60 and was clocked at 85 mph from the outfield.

Another prospect has committed from No. 1 Providence Catholic?s roster when OF Dominic Olszta committed to Joliet Junior College. Of the 16 seniors on the Celtics? roster, 14 of them are committed to play at the next level. Overall, Providence has 15 committed players on its roster (junior OF Brady Wilkin is committed to Bradley), which has to be some sort of state record.  

Augustana landed four more prospects: Waubonsie Valley LHP Mike Murphy, Romeoville INF Kyle Lenihan, Wheaton North RHP Eric Scandora and Neuqua Valley RHP Kevin Hodgman.

In other news and notes:

Two names have cropped up from small schools, both unsigned seniors: Garrison Stenger, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound LHP from Arcola HS. Report is he?s mid-80s, and has been higher at times. Vince Kiefer, a 6-foot-3, 215 RHP from New Athens HS, has been racking up big strikeout numbers, about 14 per game. Reportedly, Kiefer?s velocity has been mid-80s. The Prep Baseball Report has not seen either pitcher throw.

Dan Fifer, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound OF from Lincoln-Way West HS, is on a season-long hot streak. As the team?s leadoff hitter, Fifer went 11-for-12 last week with two doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored. He also pitched two complete-game victories last week. For the season, Fifer is hitting .563 with eight doubles, 20 RBI and 27 runs scored.
