Joe Kelch, an athletic Class of 2011 middle infielder from East Peoria HS, has committed to Illinois State. A two-year standout, Kelch batted .536 with 48 runs and 36 stolen bases as a junior last spring. Kelch joins Hinsdale Central INF Matt Anderson and Salt Fork LHP Joel Learnard in the Redbirds’ recruiting class. …

Matt LaCosse, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound RHP from Naperville North HS, has committed to play football at the University of Minnesota. LaCosse, who went 7-0 with a 3.31 ERA as a junior, played quarterback on the football team but was recruited as a tight end. …

Tyler House, a Class of 2011 6-foot-5, 200-pound LHP/OF, has announced he will transfer from Mount Carmel HS to Rich Central HS for his senior year. …

Long-time Naperville Central coach Bill Seiple, who guided the Redhawks to the Class 4A state title in the spring, has announced that he will step down after next year. In 29 years at Naperville Central, Seiple has amassed a record of 690-333, which includes two state championships. …

Edgewood College received three commitments from Class of 2010 prospects: Mark Ostrowski and Trevor Koehn from Lake Park HS, and Ryan O’Dell from St. Charles East HS.
