Oak Forest junior RHP Funkhouser picks school

Few Class of 2012 prospects have enjoyed a more meteoric rise than Oak Forest RHP Kyle Funkhouser over the last year. Now the 6-foot-2, 185-pound ace is off the board when he gave a verbal commitment to the University of Louisville.

Funkhouser enjoyed a remarkable sophomore campaign in which he posted a 9-1 record with a 1.55 ERA for Oak Forest. In the summer and fall, Funkhouser?s stock continued to soar as his velocity climbed, reaching as high as 93 mph. Funkhouser?s loose arm action and feel for three pitches make him one of the most desirable right-handers in the country.

In the 2011 class, Louisville has signed Downers Grove South Nick Burdi (No. 1), Ottawa Marquette RHP Joe Ceja (No. 7), Ottawa Marquette SS Mason Snyder (No. 10) and St. Rita LHP Joe Filomeno (No. 13) in Illinois.
