Open I.D. Showcase Results, Oswego

The Prep Baseball Report Open I.D. Showcase at Elite Sports Complex in Oswego featured some high-level prospects on November 7. While there were several strong performances, the youngest player at the event, Nick Dalesandro, stole the show. The athletic eighth-grader from Plainfield showed to be an elite prospect in the nation, as he showed incredibly well in all facets of the game.

A look at the top performers at the event:

  1. ""Nick Dalesandro, C/RHP, Drauden Point Junior High (Plainfield), 2015 ? If there?s a better eighth-grader in the country, we?d like to see him. The athletic 5-foot-11, 140-pounder showed to be a talent well beyond his age. To be clear, Dalesandro didn?t earn top prospect honors based on his immense projectability. Defensively, Dalesandro showcased remarkably quick feet and impressive arm strength, evidenced by his top pop time of 1.98. Offensively, the right-handed hitter displayed electric bat speed and a quick, explosive swing, which produced power well beyond his skinny frame. On the mound, Dalesandro continued to impress with a fastball that topped at 83 with arm side run, and a 66-68 mph slider. Dalesandro also ran a 7.3 60. No doubt you will be hearing about Dalesandro for many years to come.

  1. ""Jake Roberts, C/INF/RHP, Plainfield South HS, 2012 ? This multi-talented prospect has impressive versatility on the field, showing equally well behind the plate and as a middle infielder. 1. Joey Cresta, RHP, Plainfield North HS, 2012 ? This 5-foot-11, 182-pound right-hander definitely made a strong impression with his 86-87 mph fastball that had late life. Cresta?s three-quarter slot and whippy arm action provided some funk to his motion and made it hard to pick up the baseball. He also flashed a tight breaking ball, which looks to be his out pitch, and a firm changeup with late sink.

  1. Jake Schieber, 3B/OF, Wheaton North HS, 2012 ? The lean 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete showed off his tools in the field and at the plate. 1. Adam Kishanov, RHP/SS, Oswego East HS, 2012 ? The long and lean 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander consistently threw strikes with all three pitches. Kishanov came from a high three-quarter slot with a fastball that topped at 82. He also had a good feel for his change and curveball with good depth and tight spin. Kishanov works down in the zone, and all three pitches he threw with confidence.
