PBR talks with recent Franklin commit Brice Stratton



Brice Stratton is a versatile catcher from Bloomington North High School the recently committed to play baseball at Frankling College. The 6'3 Stratton is primarily a catcher, but also can play both corners infield spots and the outfield. He can bring some depth to a pitching staff as well, at a recent PBR showcase Brice sat in the mid 80s, topping out a 86. Primarily a catcher though Brice, a four year varsity starter, was the defensive player of the year last season at Bloomington North High School. Here is our conversation with him...

 

PBR: What schools were you considering?
Brice: Franklin, Lincoln Trail, Berea, Wabash, and Brescia.
 
PBR: Why did you choose Franklin College?
Brice: Franklin College has what I want to study. I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff and the campus.
 
PBR: Was it important to stay close to home/travel?
Brice: I did hope to be within 3 hours from home, but Franklin College just happens to be closer.
 
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Brice: Coach Marshal told me I would be a catcher/pitcher.
 
PBR: What were you expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?
Brice: At the beginning of June I was just hoping to be seen. Thanks to Jon and Pony Express for the exposure during the summer.
 
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Franklin College?
Brice: Leadership and a rounded player: Catcher, Pitcher, 1st base, 3rd base, and Outfield/ I will play and be competitive where ever I’m need.
 
PBR: How has travel baseball helped your development as a player?
Brice: Travel baseball me players to play against better competition.
 
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Brice: My parents, they give me the support and drive to always to better. I have everything I need and want to succeed at baseball because of them. Also, Kerry Rogers for all the advice and PB over the last year. Thank you!
 
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Bloomington North?
Brice: .319 BA, .493 SLG, .472 OBP, 17 R, 15 RBI, .996 Fielding %.
 
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have face in Indiana?
Brice: Kyle Rupe and AJ Reed.
