PBR: Why did you choose Eastern Kentucky
Nowlin: I felt that the baseball program has the potential to allow me to develop as a player and provide the environment where I will enjoy college baseball. EKU also offers my major and the location was also a key factor since it is less than 2 hours from home.


PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Nowlin: Tennessee Tech University, Wright State, University of Cincinnati, and Lake Erie College.


PBR: Where did Eastern Kentucky first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Nowlin: PBR Showcase in Columbus at Dublin Jerome.


PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Nowlin: The coach indicated he wants me to leverage my hitting and my speed.


PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Eastern Kentucky?
Nowlin:  My speed and ability to get a jump in the outfield when tracking a ball.  I believe I can bring this to EKU and be a key contributor to the team.


PBR: During the summer, you play for the Cincinnati Bulldogs. How did this experience help you achieve your goal of playing college baseball?
Nowlin: The competition level during summer baseball is much more competitive than high school baseball and this allowed me to be challenged with good pitching and top notch players.  Many of the players on my summer team also have aspirations for college baseball so their work ethic and commitment made summer baseball very enjoyable.


PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Nowlin: My most memorable moment from the summer was during the bottom of the 6th inning in the championship game of the World Series in Johnson City, TN.  I hit a home run to take my team ahead and we ultimately won the Amateur Youth World Series Championship.


PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Nowlin: My summer coach, Rick Wilson, has believed in me since I started playing for him when I was 14 years old.  He has taught me patience at the plate and how to become a disciplined and power hitter.


PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Harrison?
Nowlin: Harrison: AB=81; Runs=29; Hits=30; Doubles=4; Triples=2; HR=0; RBI=12; SB=20; OBP=.458; Avg. .370

Summer: Cincinnati Bulldogs: AB:114; Runs: 43; Hits: 55; Doubles=13; Triples=1; HR=4; RBI=44; SB=19; OBP= .550; Avg.= .482;  SLG .719      


PBR: What are your team and individual goals for your senior season?
Nowlin: Team goal is to win the League, District, Regionals and qualify for State. My individual goals include 40 stolen bases, AVG .450, and lead the team in OBP.


PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Nowlin: Matt Marksberry (Campbell University recruit/Glen Este- Class of 2009)
