Lots of recruiting action over the weekend. Matt Wivinis, who’s been one of the fastest rising prospects over the summer, has committed to Kansas State. Wivinis, a 6-foot, 165-pound RHP from Downers Grove South HS, has been nothing short of impressive this summer, as his fastball has climbed to 87-91 mph to go along with a sharp breaking ball. Wivinis was 5-1 with 2 saves as a junior, pitching behind All-State right-handers Nick Burdi (Louisville) and Jacob Rone (Parkland). …

Nick Milligan, a hard-throwing 6-foot-3, 190-pound RHP/OF from Galesburg HS, has committed to Western Illinois University. Milligan is a two-way prospect who impressed with an upper-80s fastball on the mound and was clocked at 90 mph from the outfield. …

Milligan’s Galesburg teammate, RHP Tyler Farrell, who committed to the University of Evansville earlier in the month, has had a change of heart. The 6-foot-2 Farrell will now join Milligan at Western Illinois. …

Derek Repking, a 6-foot, 175-pound catcher from Teutopolis HS, has committed to John A. Logan JC. Over the late spring and summer, Repking emerged as one of the top catching prospects in the state, as he helped lead the Wooden Shoes to the Class 2A state championship. Repking’s commitment caps a big recruiting week for John A. Logan JC, who earlier received verbals from Teutopolis LHP Derek Thompson and Harrisburg 3B/OF Keelin Rasch. Both Thompson and Rasch are top 15 prospects in the state. …

Alex Hermeling, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound RHP from Glenbrook North HS, has committed to the University of Louisiana-Monroe. …

A.J. Ryan, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed hitting 1B from Nazareth Academy HS, has committed to the University of Dayton. …

Jack Wietlispach, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound infielder from Niles Notre Dame HS, has committed to Parkland College.   Wietlispach possesses a big bat from the right side.
