Anthony Spangler, a hard-throwing RHP from Thornton Fractional South HS, has committed to John A. Logan JC. The 6-foot, 185-pound Spangler was relatively unknown heading into the fall but made a big name for himself at the Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase in October when he consistently fired 87-88 mph fastballs, heavy and down in the zone. He also flashed a hard 76-77 mph curveball that had some late break.

Spangler, who?s ranked No. 80 in the Class of 2011, marks the fifth top 100 prospect John A. Logan JC has landed in a stellar recruiting class, joining Teutopolis LHP Derek Thompson (No. 8 overall), Harrisburg 3B/OF Keelin Rasch (No. 12), Harlan OF/RHP Dontrell Rush (No. 27), Teutopolis C Derek Repking (No. 37).
