Collin McEnery, a LHP/1B from Providence Catholic HS, has committed to Indiana University, where he will join fellow Providence 2011 classmate Sam Travis. McEnery has been a two-way standout for the Celtics since his sophomore year. Last spring, the left-handed hitting McEnery batted .400 with 5 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 28 RBI and 7 stolen bases. On the mound, the left-hander posted a 3-1 record with a 4.32 ERA.  McEnerey marks the fifth Division I commitment for Providence in the Class of 2011.

Heartland CC has several items. First, the Hawks landed a commitment from Rockford Boylan OF Phil Toldo. Toldo hit .430 with 5 home runs and 32 RBI for the Titans as a junior. Plus, four current Heartland players have committed to D-I programs.

Former Johnsburg left-handed ace Jerad Grundy, who transferred from the University of Miami to Heartland this year, has committed to the University of Kentucky. Grundy was one of the top prospects in the 2009 class. … Former Neuqua Valley right-hander Mike McKinley, who transferred from Indiana University to Heartland this year, has committed to the University of Illinois-Chicago. McKinley was a three-year standout at Neuqua Valley, where he helped the Wildcats to a state title as a sophomore in 2007.

Two other Heartland sophomores have also committed: INF Andy Burns (Edwardsville HS) to Valparaiso, and INF Zac Johnson (Normal Community HS) to Illinois State.

Matt Skrzypiec, a hard-hitting INF from Lockport HS, has committed to St. Joseph’s College. Skrzypiec has been a three-year starter at Lockport. …

Logan Leverett, a power-hitting OF from Harrisburg HS, has committed to Southeastern Illinois College. …

Jerrick Suiter, a RHP/OF/C from Valparaiso HS in Indiana, has verbally committed to Texas Christian University. Suiter, who possesses big-time arm strength and athleticism, is the No. 3-ranked prospect in Indiana.
