Brett Chappell
, a Class of 2012 middle infielder from Rock Falls HS, has verbally committed to Northern Illinois University. A starter since his freshman year, Chappell enjoyed a big junior year, hitting .495 with 44 RBI, 4 home runs, 10 doubles and 39 runs for the Rockets. Chappell opened eyes last July when he earned top prospect honors at a PBR Class of 2012 Showcase.

>> Prep Baseball Report 2009 Player of the Year Nick Tindall will attend Quincy University next year. Tindall, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound catcher from O?Fallon HS, was drafted in the 17th round by the Minnesota Twins out of high school. Tindall played one year with the Twins organization. Apparently, there is a rule which enables players to come back after one year of professional service to non-Division 1 programs.

Tindall was remarkable his senior year at O?Fallon. He finished with 18 homers, 14 doubles, 64 RBI while batting .492 and slugged at a 1.082 clip. He also possesses a plus arm behind the plate.

>> Former Harrisburg standout Christian Cummins, who earned PBR first-team All-State honors in 2009, has committed to St. Louis University. The speedy middle infielder began his collegiate career at the University of Illinois before transferring to John A. Logan JC this year. As a senior at Harrisburg, Cummins batted .532 with 5 homers, 10 doubles, 5 triples, 59 hits, 54 runs, 38 RBI and 30 stolen bases.

>> Richard Dimock, a senior RHP/3B from Troy Triad HS, has committed to McKendree University. Dimock has led Triad into the top 25 this season by going 9-1 on the mound while batting .393 with 16 doubles and 31 RBI at the plate. The strong-bodied Dimock impressed at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase with a mid-80s fastball and a powerful swing at the plate.

>> Sam Cook, a RHP from Lincoln-Way North HS, has committed to Prairie State College.

>> Justin Wallace, a senior OF/LHP from O?Fallon HS, has committed to Fontbonne University in St. Louis. This season Wallace is 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 17 innings for the No. 10-ranked Panthers.
