Recruiting news from around the state

Over the last four months Scott Baker went from a relatively unknown prospect to one of the most coveted right-handed pitchers in the state. Baker?s rapid ascension culminated over the summer when the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder from Manchester HS verbally committed to Ball State University. The wide shoulder righty showcases an upper 80s fastball with room to grow.
And speaking of hot prospects, Kyle Rupe, a RHP/SS from Perry Meridian HS, is off the board. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Rupe committed to Indiana State. Rupe emerged this spring as a prospect to pay close attention to. An athletic shortstop with a plus arm also showed an 89 mph fastball this summer.
Catcher Seth LaRue (right), a three-year starter for Evansville Mater Dei, has committed to Olney Central College.
Danville Area Community College landed a talented prospect when it received a commitment from Pendleton Heights 2B/OF Caleb Etchison.
