Oakland University landed a pair of prospects when it received commitments from Barrington catcher Doug Beath and Downers Grove North Bryan Jagielo. Beath, an athletic 6-foot-3, 205-pound catcher, was a standout performer at the Fall Prospect Program. Extremely strong and physical, Beath also impressed by running a 6.8 60. Jagielo is a smooth left-hander who can command three pitches. …

Jacob Wolf, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound OF from Downers Grove South HS, has committed to Miami University Ohio. Wolf emerged as an offensive catalyst for the Mustangs last spring when he tallied 7 home runs, 13 doubles and 36 RBI while batting .405. Last week, Miami landed Nazareth ace RHP Ryan Powers. …

Brandon Ley, an athletic SS/RHP from Quincy Notre Dame HS, has committed to Quincy University. The 6-foot-1 Ley is one of the state’s biggest sleepers: a 6.7 runner who possesses arm strength in the field and on the mound

Michael Vilardo, an athletic SS from Cary-Grove HS, has committed to the University of Richmond. Vilardo was also a highly recruited hockey player. …

Jake Walkner, a left-handed hitting catcher from Crystal Lake Central HS, has committed to St. Joseph’s College. The 6-foot, 170-pound Walkner impressed at the PBR Top Prospect Showcase in June with his defensive abilities. …

Former Illinois Valley Central standout 3B Jordan Parr, now a sophomore at Parkland College, has committed to the University of Illinois. Jordan, who began his college career at Illinois State, will be the third Parr brother on the Illini’s roster, joining Josh and his twin Justin. Justin starred at Parkland last year while Josh was the Illini’s starting shortstop last year.
