Ryndak transfers, and other recruiting news



Parker Ryndak, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound RHP/INF, has transferred from Wheaton-Warrenville South HS to St. Charles East HS. Ryndak, who features an upper-80s fastball, is one of the better Class of 2011 prospects in the state. Ryndak will join fellow incoming senior, LHP Wes Benjamin, to comprise a strong 1-2 pitching combination next year. Behind Benjamin’s breakout junior campaign, in which he went 13-2, St. Charles East advanced to the sectional finals in the spring. …

 

Two other Class of 2011 prospects have made verbal commitments recently. Providence Catholic LHP/OF Matt Trowbridge has committed to Central Michigan University. Trowbridge has been a big-game pitcher for the Celtics since his sophomore year.

 

Michael Hurwitz, a switch-hitting SS from Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin HS, has given a verbal commitment to the University of Illinois. The 5-foot-7 Hurwitz is one of the top-hitting middle infielders in the Class of 2011. Hurwitz joins what’s already shaping up to be a strong recruiting class for the Illini, which includes top-level New Trier OF Charlie Tilson and Mount Carmel RHP John Kravetz. …

 

Class of 2010 SS Drew Buddle from South Elgin HS has committed to Lewis University. Andrew Cecchi, an INF from Joliet Catholic Academy HS, has signed with South Suburban Junior College. …

 

In other news, Tim Lyons, who had a career record of 284-91 in 10 years at Brother Rice HS, has stepped down as head coach. Of Lyons’ many accomplishments at Brother Rice, he guided the Crusaders to a fourth-place finish in Class AA, four Chicago Catholic crowns, and six regional championships.
