No. 2 Downers Grove South (3-3) split a West Suburban crossover double-header with Hinsdale Central.

No. 3 Nazareth Academy (8-1) split a pair in Missouri on Saturday.The Roadrunners beat Parkway (Mo.) Central 9-4 behind 6-foot-5 junior LHP Ryan Marske (2-0). Marske fanned six in his 5 ? inings of work allowing just two hits. University of Dayton-bound A.J. Ryan had two hits and two RBI.

In game two, the road-weary Roadrunners ran out of gas and fell to Parkway (Mo.) South 7-1. Grand Valley State-bound RHP Patrick Kelly had five solid innings in his first start of 2011.

No. 4 St. Rita (8-1) unloaded on its guests from Indiana. In their second game of the day, the Mustangs hit three home runs and crushed Portage 12-2. Junior 3B Stefano Belmonte hit a grand slam and junior Scott Thomas had a two-run dinger. Senior T.J. Verdun also had a two-run blast for the Mustangs. Purdue recruit junior RHP Eddie De La Riva (4-0) picked up the win.

No. 5 St. Laurence (7-1) blanked Kenwood 10-0 in five innings. Junior Nick Altobella improved to 2-0 on the mound, in his four-inning, two-hit and eight-strikeout, performance. Senior Bryan Villanova hit a two-run shot, his third round-tripper of the season.

No. 7 Plainfield North (5-0) defeated No. 49 Lincoln-Way North 9-4.

No. 9 Mt. Carmel (7-0) crushed Highland Park 11-1, behind a pair of three-run homers from junior Sam Kint and sophomore Jason Gasser.

No. 10 Chatham Glenwood (7-0; 2-0) defeated Bloomington 11-1 and Williamsville 10-3 on Saturday. In the Williamsville win, senior RHP Ian Richardson (2-0) picked up the win. Titan junior C Alex Bee drove home three runs. In the five-inning win over Bloomington, senior Jake Lance went deep with a pair of Titans aboard. LouisianaTech-bound Phil Maton went three-for-three with an RBI and Zach Joos drove in a pair of Titan runs. Junior Colin Brennan (2-0) picked up the win.

No.11 Harrisburg (7-2) lost for the second time this week, falling 8-6 to Pleasant Plains. The Bulldogs made six errors that contributed to the defeat. Sophomore Ryne Roper, Pat Borders and red-hot senior Isaac Behme homered for the ?Dogs.

Pleasant Plains (6-1) was led by Cardinal Ben Weller (2-0) who fired a complete game, striking out 11 Bulldog hitters.

No. 12 Lyons Township (4-1; 2-0) swept Glenbard West 15-3 and 13-0 in a West Sunurban Silver double-header.

No. 17 Westminster Christian (2-4)  finished up its spring trip with a 4-0 win at Pleasant Plains (6-1). Junior RHP Kevin Elder (1-0) fired a one-hitter and struck out 11. Junior Ryan Perez had two hits and drove home a run for the Warriors.

No. 19 Stevenson (3-0) scored a 17-10 football-sounding win over Carmel (0-3). Patriot junior Max Golembo led the Pats with a 4-for-4 day with a homer and two RBI. Illinois recruit junior SS Adam Walton and senior 3B Jacob Scholl went deep for the Pats.

No. 20 Neuqua Valley (5-0) outslugged No. 32 Naperville Central 18-17. Purdue recruit junior Jack Amaro had three hits and three RBI for the Wildcats. Junior Ian Lewandowsi had three doubles and drove in two runs for Naperville Central (3-2).

No.22 Illinois Valley Central (6-1) fell to Pontiac 12-10 but came back and beat previously unbeaten Washington 3-1. Washington (7-1) beat Pontiac 5-2.
In the Grey Ghost win over Pontiac, senior Brock Adcock tied the game at 1 with a home run. Grey Ghost junior Tommy Jenkins singled in the game-winner for IVC.

In the Washington win over Pontiac, Panther junior C Zach Little tripled with the bases full for the big-blow in the Panthers win over Pontiac.

No. 23 Streamwood (5-0) blanked Rolling Meadows 2-0 behind an eight-hit shutout from senior LHP Dalton Lundeen (2-0). Lundeen struck out seven. Junior SS Nate Pearson and senior 2B Brandon Larkin-Guilfoyle drove home the two Sabre runs.

No. 29 Palatine (3-4) won a pair on Saturday defeating Bartlett 4-3 and host Maine West 7-2. Junior RHP Eric Scheuermann and junior RHP Kurt Becker picked up the wins on the mound for the Pirates. In game one against Bartlett, senior C Jim Smearman and senior Dan Haze had RBI doubles for the Pirates. Against Maine West senior 1B Joe Walsh homered and Heartland Community College-recruit Cody Bobbitt tripled home a Pirate run.

No. 34 Burlington Central (4-2) defeated Grayslake Central 5-3. Rocket senior RHP Nick Hahn threw a complete game, striking out eight and improving to 1-1 on the year. The win was the 23rd of Hahn?s brilliant career at Burlington Central, setting a new school record. Hahn had a great day at the plate with three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. Hahn?s battery-mate junior C Tanner Scott, had two hits and an RBI and senior Joey Lange drove home a pair to lead the Rocket attack.

No. 41 Mundelein (8-0) crushed Wheeling 14-1 behind Valparaiso-bound RHP Ben Maher (3-0).

No. 42 De La Salle (5-0) swept Shepard 12-2 and 6-5. Meteor Anthony Shimkus (2-0) fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the opener. Shimkus had three hits and a pair of RBI in the game one win.

No.46 Benet Academy (4-2) crushed No. 39 Naperville North 13-3 behind junior LHP Chris Sanderson who improved to 2-1 on the mound. Sanderson allowed a run and three hits in his six innings of work. Sanderson fanned seven Naperville North (0-4) batters. Seniors Nick Moore and Andrew Jachna had two hits and two RBI for the Redwings. Junior Andrew Mogni chipped in with a pair of hits and RBIs as Benet head coach Jeff Bonebrake?s Redwings won their third in a row.
In a battle of unbeatens, South Elgin (5-0) defeated No. 38 Huntley (4-1) in 14 innings by a 7-4 margin. The Storm were led by senior Kenny Lowden. Lowden homered twice and drove home three runs. Lowden has launched three round-trippers in his last two games. Sophomore David Palmer (1-0) scattered seven hits over the last seven innings, striking out six in his shut-out relief performance.

Hinsdale South (3-2; 2-0) swept its West Suburban Gold conference openers over Addison Trail 14-3 and 18-7. Senior RHP Tyler Langosh (2-0) struck out eight in the opener.

In more WSC-Gold action, Leyden (4-0; 2-0) swept Morton 10-0, behind Ben Palmer (2-0), who struck out eight in game one. Eagle Carlos Olivarria drove home two runs and had two hits. in game two, the Eagles beat Morton 6-4 behind Louisiana-Monroe-bound Justin Stawycnhy (2-0). Stawycnhy struck out nine in his complete-game effort. Palmer homered for the Eagles in the game two victory.

Willowbrook (5-1; 2-0) swept Proviso East 18-7 and 7-0 in WSC Gold action.

Lincoln-Way Central (5-2) hammered Immaculate Conception 11-0 and 14-4 in five-inning games.The Knights were led offensively by junior Greg Wymer, who had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI for the Knights. In game two, junior Jack Krull, had three hits and three RBI, to lead head coach Sean Bietermans? Knights to the sweep.

Hersey (3-2)) defeated previously unbeaten Evanston 5-3 on Saturday. 6-foot-2 Coastal Carolina-bound Joe Perricone homered for the Huskies. Huskie mates senior Ben Tsalosis and junior Brian Tansor, each hit two-run shots. For Tansor it was home run No. 2. Evanston falls to 4-1.

Mahomet-Seymour (8-3) swept Rochester 17-7 and 14-4. In game two, Parkland College-bound Jason Ziegler homered and drove in five runs for the Bulldogs.

Homewood-Flossmoor (5-1) defeated TF South 6-5 in ten innings, when H-F junior Ben Kirchler scored the winning run on a balk and junior Danny Lietz (2-0) fired three scoreless innings of relief for the Vikings.

Troy-Triad (6-0) beat Belleville West 4-3 and Festus (Mo.) 12-2. In game one, junior Dylan Johnson homered in the top of the seventh for the game-winner. In game two, senior Rich Dimrock had a three-run triple to pace the Knights.

Herscher (9-1) swept Streator 11-1 and 11-5, behind junior Jordan Ruckman (2-0), who struck out eight in the game one win. Tiger Wes Sproul had a perfect 4-for-4 day with two RBI. In game two, senior 1B Tyler Evans homered with a man aboard and had two hits.
